There are two components to our course:

1  Theory Training
Theory training is done by home study, through easy to follow manuals and workbooks.

This component is completed by reading the manuals and completing the workbooks.  Your Trainer and the Skills Centre are always available for assistance.  There is an exam at the conclusion of the theory component which is held at the Trent head office at Newington, Sydney.

You may complete this component in the time frame that suits your needs.

2  Practical Training
An Accredited Trainer will be assigned to you and will guide you through the Practical Course.  The practical training is conducted, in-car, in your local area, for Sydney and Central Coast residents.  Country residents are required to come to Sydney or the Central Coast and are presented the practical component in block, to reduce the number of visits to Sydney.

The practical training is competency based.  How quickly the practical component is completed depends on the amount of home practice that you perform.

Applicants average between 20 to 45 hours with the trainer and are expected to complete at least the same amount of time on home practice and assignments.

Immediate Start
Once your application is received by us, you will receive the full course package, by registered mail with in a week. The Theory Component is self-explanatory and may be commenced immediately.

Your Trainers phone number will be sent to you in your course package. After reading through the general information you can give them a call and make an appointment to begin training.

Flexibility
The Theory component is completed by distance study.
You do not have to attend classroom lessons.  The Theory Component is done by home study, so when to study is up to you.

The Practical Component is on the road, by individual appointment with your Trainer.  The appointments for the sessions are arranged by mutual agreement and are available at most times, weekends and after hours.  If you are in a hurry you may complete the course quickly. You may take longer to complete your course if other commitments occur or financial concerns arrise.

The flexibility of the course allows you to stay in your current employment while you complete the course.

Course Vehicle
A dual control vehicle is required to complete the Practical Component of the course.   A Trent Education vehicle may be used to complete the course. We do recommend that you try to have your own dual control car as it will benefit you to be able to practice at home using dual controls.
