Course Policies

 

1.       ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

Hold a Class 1A Drivers Licence. 

Meet RTA entry requirements for driving instructors. 

Have access to a car suitable for driving training.

 2.       AVAILABILITY 

Because of the course's open learning design for the Theory Component and a network of Trainers for the Practical Component, the course is available all year.

 3.       RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 

We know that you may have done other courses or have experience which covers some of the material in the course that you want to do.  Sometimes you have learned all of the material in a course, and will want us to recognise that with an AQF qualification.

 

Trent Education's course is competency based education so is able to assess current competecy as you work through the course and use accelerated progression to complete the course if you are already competent. You will be given the opportunity to demonstrate that you have the required knowlege and skill to accelerate through the course.

 

4.       COMPLAINTS 

 

If you have a complaint, please see any of our staff.  They will try to solve the problem with you, and will also help you to fill out a complaint form.  If you do not agree with what happened as a result of your complaint, you have the right to have an independent expert (someone you know of and trust, and that is acceptable to us)  to decide what is to happen.  The staff member will explain this to you.

 

5.        ASSESSMENTS

The practical component of the course is competency based so the trainer will be continually assessing your performance and marking it in your practical Manual.  There is a final theory exam and a final practical assessment at the end of training. If you do not agree with and assessment you may make a complaint to our management. (see Complaints above)

 

 

 6.       IMPROVEMENTS 

If you can think of any way that we can improve our service, please let us know.  Our staff are eager to hear of anything that we can do better.   At the end of the course we will send you a Questionnaire asking for your comments on the course.

 7.       REFUNDS  

You may be able to get a partial refund if you do not complete our course.  A refund will be given to students that encounter problems with financial hardship, language difficulties or unforeseeable changes in circumstances.  Refunds are only given out to students within 2 months of application or before 10hours of practical training have occurred. 

Refunds are given deducting the following:

Application processing and postage fee 

Fee for each Manual or text used

Fee for knowledge gained up to 10 hours of practical training

Fee for knowledge gained from completion of theory.

Please ask for details if you need them.

 8.       ACCESS AND EQUITY 

We are committed to providing training to anyone who can benefit from it.   All of our staff is committed to the principles of access and equity - please ask to see our Access and equity policy at any time.

 9.       HARASSMENT 

If you feel that any other student or any staff member has harassed you or bothered you in any way, please ask to see our Chief executive immediately.

 10.       PRIVACY AND ARCHIVE 

You have the right under the Privacy Act to see and ask to have amended any of your records. Your records will be kept for 30 Years.

 11.       DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES 

Any student who is found to be cheating or harassing staff will face disciplinary action.  This may involve asking the student to leave the course. 

12.       LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY ASSESSMENT 

 

The course is available to persons with any language as long as they can obtain assistance from an English-speaking assistant.

A reading and writing Tasks assessment sheet is available to check your proficiency in English.

Please note the course and all assessments are delivered in English only. 

 

13.       STUDENT SUPPORT, WELFARE AND GUIDANCE SERVICES

 

The Chief Executive, the office staff and your trainer are always available to attend any of your needs.

 14.       FLEXIBLE LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT 

The Theory Component of the course is completed by distance education and may be completed in any time frame that suits the student.

The competency based Practical Component is presented, on a one to one basis, in-car.   Appointments are made, for location and time, by mutual agreement between the trainer and the student.

There are no time frames for course completion.
